A simple Metamorphosis

Standing in the doorway, I am more alone than ever. The peculiarity of my solitude doesn't phase me; the rush of the crowd brushes against my cheek. I see past the stares and the complexity of conversations whispering in my ear. I hear the breeze and I feel footsteps on the floor. My heart pounds faintly in my chest, drawing my eyes to my thoughts. I strain for the simplicity and satisfaction that tears can bring, only to find my efforts are without amends. My aperture is low, and my focus is single. Then the shutter is released; the lens is cracked. Vibrations wake me and the world comes alive. Colors appear, and the faces come clear at once. A vibrant blur, I search for familiarity in the chaos. Noise tramples my thoughts and kills my mind-wanders. The discordant sounds of voices echo in and out of my ears, a constant stream of long verbs and sharp consonants. My feet force themselves out of paralysis; I trip over my toes and shove myself against the mass. Slowly, steadily, I make progress. Nobody can tell whether it is progress or a fall; but I see improvement and only improvement. The reason? Only my instincts can tell. Perhaps I will find him, perhaps I will stumble upon my old friend. Above the crowd, he towers above the rest and calls me to his unknown, yet faintly familiar embrace. He is confidence and he is comfort. My fight against them has been fought and my struggle with my own conflicts has been realized. I allow my rigid, determined figure to relax and become limp in his arms. I welcome him, and he accepts the invitation without a particle of reluctance. My shattered everything tumbles into order and perfection, and I forget previous disarray. The images of materialism dissolve and I find beauty in myself and in others without envy. He takes me carefully by the hand and leads me along, nudging me back into a river of senses. I remember, and my productivity increases. The change I have discovered is inside of me, and my course cannot be stopped.

shhh...

Shhhh...
don't tell anyone
but I had a great time.
don't tell 'em that
this could have possibly been my first date.
Don't tell the people
about everything that happened
No, it wasn't bad, nothing happened bad,
But its the secret part that makes it so good.
I won't tell you
but it could have been the best night that
I've had for a couple months.
Shhh...
I'm so happy
I could sing
Oh wait.
I am singing.
Don't tell anyone but I'm pretty sure
that my self confidence
has been boosted to a ten.
Don't tell those kids
that despite the giant pimple
on my face
I forgot about it
and Was Happy.
Shh...
I'm smiling bigger than you.
Did you have fun?
Maybe. Maybe not.
But who cares?
Tonight was about me.
Shhh...

the Thursday Post. It snowed today.

I know I already made
a Monday post,
But
I just had to name this post after
my most favorite day of the week
this week at least.
Let me tell you the series of thoughts that went through my head
today. (this always seems to describe my day best.)

"Math! I love math! I can do Math!"
"Wow. I can't believe I just figured that out!"
"ASL."
"Re-peat peat peat peat? i thought it was beep beep beep beep"
"this sweater matches my nails. dangit"
"Lunch!"
"My hair..its red?"
"Okay, so if I walk around, I could coincidentally run into him"
"That was great! I coincidentally ran into him!"
"Well this is lame."
"Old Dan Tucker he came to town! Wait, who is that anyways?"
"I wish my name was Dinah."

"Get over it. You aren't getting answered back."
"Why did I ask someone to this dance anyways?"
"This dance sure is causing me a lot of grief"
"This is awkward."
"Bam. All the presidents in less than an hour."
"also, it snowed today. in october."

I was born a Happy Person.

I am happy.
Happy like...
I was on Christmas when I received a
Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker.
I'm more than just satisfied,
I think I'm truly ecstatic.
Truly, my room isn't clean,
which can be considered more
of a pet peeve than ever,
and I'm running in he(ck)
every other day,
but
I'm lovin this life.
Now, tomorrow you'll see me and
I'll probably be [fake]-happy again.
Which I feel like I usually am.
Because usually I am upset about something.
But just today, I realized.
Its not [fake]-happy!
I've tried to fake happy.
Its near the impossible.
And as much as I'd like to
draw attention to myself by being
overly depressed
sad
and upset,
I'm afraid that's just not going to work.
Before, I thought that the way I could get you
to notice me
Was to be completely
invisible.
I thought that I was so sad
that if I could just cry in your arms
Any person would sympathize with me
and become my friend.
However,
Today I realized.
That is obviously not me,
that is obviously
a completely different being inside of me
who feels like they are starved of attention
even though I'm getting plenty of it.
I can't say I'm super popular,
but I have friends,
and I'm definitely not a shy person.
It is incredibly hard for me to stay angry at someone
for more than one or two minutes
and It is even more improbable
that I would ever fall victim to a depression.
Its true.
I don't know why,
but
I was born
a Happy Person.

Today has been good.

Today, I woke up.
I looked in the mirror.
I usually look in the mirror and think,
Look at that girl.
Who is she?
Is she pretty?
Does she like herself?

Today,
Was different.
I looked in the mirror, and I felt
Confident.
Happy.
and I might venture to even say I felt
Beautiful.

I looked at myself and I liked what I saw.
Now, I'm not bragging, and I'm
not saying I'm perfect.
Because I am definitely not.
But I felt pretty.
I felt like a princess,
a Daughter of God.

And as I stood in front of the congregation,
I was
Confident.
Happy.
and In my own eyes,
Beautiful.
I wasn't nervous about
what everyone would think,
and I felt like I was doing the right thing.

I am doing the right things.

Now, this might sound like a bunch of sap
from a girl who doesn't know left from right,
and couldn't tell pretty from ugly in the first place.

This could sound like one of those soap-operas,
one of those motivational speeches they give
girls who will never listen.
But its true.
And truth is,
Today has been good.

Now, on the not so pretty side.
Remembering 9/11.
Those of us in the US today
will never forget.
Its only appropriate
I mention the
Hundreds,
Thousands,
of lives we lost that day.
I remember:
First Grade.
I remember
That Same Video.
Of course, at the time
I had no idea,
what an impact this was having
on Millions of people.
Now, as I look back,
I could not
Imagine
What it could have been like to see those towers
fall.
If I had been 16 at that time, I don't know what
I would do
Or feel like.

I found this video on Mormon Messages that can help
us all realize the trauma
That people went through on 9/11.
It also shows us that
through Christ,
We can overcome all of our trials.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Nuggets of my Brain.

Here a a few little morsels, A few Tasty Nuggets, of information and random thoughts compiled in my brain today.
It is on rare occasion that one such as you can hear the things I never say.
(I have written these things down throughout the day. So they are for reals. Genuine.)

"Did I sleep text this guy? I sleep texted him! I did!"

"I wonder how many times this lady will say Nugget"

"I can't seem to recall what life was like when the dishwasher worked."

"You know, surveys say people have their best thinking time on the toilet; I'm starting to find mine while washing the dishes"

"How many cookies can my body handle today?"

"I wonder if putting syrup on my eggs makes them really unhealthy."

"Who invented texting, anyway? Shouldn't that be in this textbook or something?"

"My feet are so cold I'm starting to forget about the spiders in my basement."

"If lightning struck and we had a blackout, would we still have to go to school tomorrow? Like, even if the stoplights didn't work?

"I can't believe iPads don't have a USB port. How does that even make sense? If I had another iPod I couldn't even plug it into my iPad to download music or charge. Hate Apple."

"Wait, does my uncle still work for Apple?"

"Reading the Bible is really breaking down my self-confidence since I' m so slow."

"I wish the power would go out every night."

"Am I allowed to be in love with a lot of different people at the same time? How does that work?"

"When I'm married, will I ever think about any other guys?"

"Hey wait a second. I'm super confused about this person."

"Does he really think I'm pretty? Well, I guess I could be pretty. I guess I'm okay. Yeah, I could be considered pretty I guess, if you looked at my face this way."

"I hope I never sweat as much as she does"

"I can play that on the piano! Hey, should we do a musical number in church? Hey, I could make a family band! We can do harmonies and everything! Wait, we don't have a soprano."

"The Lord Loves Me, Too."

"I really hope there's no pictures of me on this slideshow."

"Shoot, thats an ugly picture of me."

"I did my homework. I can't believe it."

"This is the third blessing I have received in two weeks. I am a blessed person."

"I just want another thunderstorm."

And Last, but not least:

"Who's even going to read all of these? Whoever it is must have a lot of extra time on their hands. Well, I have a lot of time..Well not really. But enough to write these down for whoever the lucky person is."

Here we are.

At school I find an air of solitude around friends. Surrounded by so many, I still feel so alone.
Or so I thought.
But today I realized that I'm not.
I'm encircled about with people who love and care about me.
And I shouldn't take it for granted.
Random acts of kindness (forced or not) happen to me all the time.
Me.
Don't ask me why, don't ask me what.
And if I'm not happy with it, then what would make me happy?
I don't even know.
Making something into a big drama isn't the way things should be.
I can talk, so can you.
Mostly me.
As we all know.
But so what? Let me talk.
Let my loquacious lips fly!
I'm rambling.
I realize that.
But who cares.
If he ever read this blog I could possibly be stereotyped for life.
Talk to me, loser, before I talk to you.
